Eliane Elias in Shanghai

In just a couple of days on October 26, 2011, Eliane Elias will perform at the Shanghai Jazz & Blues Festival in Shanghai, China. Shanghai has grown into the largest city in the world, in population terms, with over 23 million people living here, and the array of skyscrapers here dwarfs anything we’ve seen anywhere else. Not to mention the number of Gucci and other high-end brand stores.

Shanghai, additionally, has a rich history with jazz, mainly due to it’s original status as expatriate city of the East. How much that appreciation extends to local Chinese people remains to be seen (by us anyway). However, there is no doubt that Shanghai Jazz & Blues have done their best to enhance the prestige of the music, and the artists who perform it, as the events takes place in the prestigious Shanghai Concert Hall, located right next to People’s Place – the very center of Shanghai. The concert hall itself looks beautiful from the outside, and probably is on the inside. Soon we will be able to show you photos from the event in our Flickr feed, but we are unable to post them now to either Flickr, Facebook or Twitter as none of those services are accessible in China (but they are in Hong Kong).

Aside from Eliane Elias the program also features: Chris Botti, Richard Bona, Alexander Rodriguez and a couple of other acts.
