We are happy to announce todays release of Kurt Rosenwinkel’s all-new 2-cd album entitled “Star of Jupiter” (WOM0004). And what a debut! It instantly shot up to the #1 spot on the iTunes Jazz Charts in the US, Belgium & Sweden – and later in Germany as well!! Tthank U all for all of your support!!

Some reviews are starting to come in. Here’s one from the Disgruntled Jazz Critic Jonathan Wertheim. And here’s one from David Prentice’s “On The Listen” blog. Many more to come, including New York Times.

“Star of Jupiter” is a 2-cd/12 songs album of originals by Kurt Rosenwinkel featuring a wide range of styles & sounds. Kurt Rosenwinkel is on guitar, Aaron Parks plays piano/keys, Eric Revis the bass and Justin Faulkner is on drums. You can listen to previews of the tracks here.

The album is available on CD through the Wommusic shop here, or as a download (Mp3 320kbps/Apple Lossless) here. It is available on iTunes here (please rate the album on iTunes!!). You can also order the cd through Amazon by clicking here, or, if you have an Android device, on Google Play by clicking here.

The album was recorded March 6-9, 2012 at the Clubhouse Studios in Rhinebeck, NY, just after the band had finished a weeklong stay at the famed Village Vanguard club in NYC. Legendary recording engineer James Farber did both the tracking (at Clubhouse) and mixing (at Shelter Island Sound in NYC) and equally legendary Greg Calbi was the mastering engineer at Sterling Sound. The album was mixed to tape to give a richer, warmer and more analogue sound. We have further ensured that the album is released as part of the Mastered for iTunes program on iTunes for improved sound quality.

Says Kurt: “What my music is about in general — and this album is no different — has to do with the relationship that we each have with the universe at large and how we use our intuition to listen to what it is telling us.”. Jupiter, of course, is technically a planet not a star, but the title of the album came from a dream that Kurt had one night after performing in Israel. The full story/bio for the album can be found by clicking here.

Aside from “Star of Jupiter”. Kurt Rosenwinkel has released 3 other albums on Wommusic: Kurt Rosenwinkel & OJM: Our Secret World (WOM0003 – 2010), Kurt Rosenwinkel Standards Trio: Reflections (WOM0002 – 2009) & Kurt Rosenwinkel Group: The Remedy – Live at the Village Vanguard (WOM0001 – 2008). They can all be purchased a special-priced bundle in the Wommusic shop by clicking here.
