On Nov. 13 South Africa’s Freshlyground were featured on CNN’s “African Voices” – the headline being “Meet Cape Town’s hit-making band”. You can watch the segment by clicking here.
The segment has Zolani Mahola (lead-singer) and Kyla-Rose Smith (violinist) walk through beautiful Cape Town and talk about how the band first together, even visiting some of the venues they used to play as they were first experiencing the massive success they achived with their album “Nomvula” & the hit song “Doo Be Doo” from that same album – an album that went multi-platinum with over 300.000 sold copies in South Africa alone.
And of course they also talk about their collaboration with Shakira on “Waka, Waka“, the massively successful official FIFA World Cup 2010 song that has been viewed over 950 million times on YouTube. And Freshlyground are working on new, exciting collaborations which we aim to tell you about next month.
Following the North American summer tour of 2015 which took Freshlyground to San Jose, San Francisco, Victoria (Canada), Vancouver, Seattle, Ottawa, Boston, Rochester, Montreal, NYC and culminating with a date at Howard Theatre in Washington DC (photo above is from that date – you can watch a video from the tour here), we can announce that we plan to have them back in North America again next June and that we are currently looking for dates.
After that we plan to bring the band to Europe/Middle East. Please be in touch if you are interested to present Freshlyground.
